My little crunchy family has been blessed with being able to review Signing Time on Demand for our readers.
Signing Time on Demand has Digital Videos on demand to help teach children and adults as it turns out American Sign Language ASL.
You can view the on demand lessons on your computer or a mobile device such as and ipad. We choose to use the ipad and pad the $1.99 app fee for the MOD app ( Leaping Brain Labs, the developer of the white-label digital media distribution platform called “MOD Machine.” www.leapingbrain.com. ) needed to use this program on our ipad. It was not hard to set up but did require looking at the sites instructions on how to use it on ipad to figure it out.
Once set up I gathered the little ones and we first watched the free download that you can download too called Welcome to Signing Time Free Video it is 0.00 when added to your cart and at check out. Other selections are $14.99
The other selection we picked was Series 1 Vol. 3: Signing Time Everyday Signs. Right away the childrens eyes where wide with excitement and they started to move and gliggle to the music as they tried to imitate the movements and sing along to the opening song. “It’s singing time with Alex and Leah….” The song plays in head still and makes me smile. It is a fun little song that is so catchy. I like it and that is saying something as honestly so many children’s shows have songs that annoy me. My friends say I have so much patience, they do not see me squirm when kids TV is on! So this on demand learning DVD really is great, I do not say that lightly. Quickly my children where picking up sings important to them and remembering them.
I was just laughing joyfully today when my husband came home and was jumped on by two children not using words but signs to tell him that they have a shopping list and need bread, cereal, cookies, and candy. You know, the basics. hehehe He could not resist and took them shopping and had them help him learn some of the signs he didn’t yet know. He mentioned he was very impressed with what they have learned from the program and more so their joy of learning such things. As homeschoolers we are always looking for ways for our children to learn new things but just as important to us is that they enjoy learning.
When asked if we would recommend this to other parents the answer is Absolutly. The Singing Time on Demand player is fast and smooth and you don’t need a new computer or device to make it look great unlike some other programs. Unlike DVDs the program is safe on my device and backed up if something should happen to a computer or ipad. I don’t see the down side to Signing Time on Demand. If I have to add a negative it would be that there are so many lessons we want and at $14.99 that adds up. That however is mitigated by the fact that the shows are worth every penny! So check out the free video they offer and see what you and your children think!
We will be adding this program to our 1st grade homeschooling year as part of our second language requirement! It is that good!
