Affection in front of Children
Do you show affection to your significant other in front of the children? I know some parents are not ok with PDA. I wish I knew why? The psychology of it as I understand it is that children learn to treat their future spouse by watching their parents interact. If we are never close in front of them what are we showing them?
I have been with my husband for over 15 years now. We are still in love. We hold hands, we hug, we kiss, all in front of our children and sometimes even in public! Sin! Or maybe not. Our children feel very secure that Daddy and Mommy are great together, that their family is safe, that the D word is not part of their world. Sometimes they see us argue I will admit but they see us fix things too, and cuddle and make things better.
We do things for one another and buy things for one another. The kids see all this. In fact I often ask for help when it comes to shopping for daddy. Sometimes though I just need to buy him a hot pretty green shirt because I will love looking at him in it. Yes, he is a hotty still! I think for me he always will be.
So we show affection in many ways in front of our children and I can only hope that it will help them see a happy and healthy relationship so they will know what to aim for someday.
