Do your part to save the bees! Let the weeds grow!

It is spring here in Georgia and the weather is already hitting the 80’s with sunny days mixed with very wet ones. This has caused our front yard to suddenly burst into color thanks to the weeds. While our neighbors are cutting their grass short, and the golf coarse is battling weeds, we are encouraging them to flourish. Why? Because not only does our yard look wild and beautiful, it is supporting the bees who badly need all the help they can get!

This is a photo of one of our little blossoms making wishes yesterday. Granted she was blowing those wishes into our new garden area! If you can see in the background of our overgrown front lawn closest to the house, there are no flowers. Why? Because our free ranging chickens stick close to the house. They love the flower weeds too! Out in the field though is a blanket of purple and white and I need to get some photos of it!

For now though…. we plan! If you just can’t bring yourself to support the weeds then please consider planting Bee Friendly flowers! There really are so many to choose from. We did many last year and this year I think we will be adding more, like Lavender! Husband was very sweet and got me tulips but who knows if we will still be here next year to see them come up again! This brings me to a topic that is hard on my heart…. are we going to need to move? The landlord wants us to buy this home but I am not sure that will be possible. If we can’t or choose not to, will he make us move? Being pregnant and having to worry about this isn’t a good thing so for now I just focusing on putting in our 1000 square foot garden and taking care of this place, and the wild life too, as best we can!
