Our not so little family has been blessed to welcome a feral little kitten that has turned into such a little love bug. Our new kitten now called “River” due to her reminding us of the character “River Tam” from the show Firefly quickly showed us that it wasn’t yet the right time to retire some toys our 9 month old baby no longer has interest in. We learned that old baby toys can make wonderful toys for kittens. We posted a video online and learned that other people loved this idea and hadn’t have thought about this possibility had they not seen River having such a great time. So without further ado, here is River having a blast with a baby toy we thought we no longer needed.
Recycle Baby Toys
This playmat toy for babies is not the only toy the new kitten loves. She loves the balls the baby still plays with, anything that has the crinkle sound, rattles to bat around, and stuffed animals about her same size to try and wrestle with. While kittens certainly can chew and claw things up more than a baby I think if a toy is baby safe that with supervision it should be kitten safe as well! If you are looking to entertain an energetic kitten or trying to help one be more social and tame it perhaps pick up some used baby toys for it to explore and play with.
So far I am thrilled that the kitten has toys she knows she can sink her claws into and it has helped her stay clear of clawing up the furniture!
