Rainy Day Fun

While tropical storm Isaac slowly makes his path known I find myself a bit sad. No storm for us it seems. Not that I want a big storm but I do want some more rainy days while it is warm!

One of the great things about rainy weather is playing out in the rainy weather. I love love love beautiful rain boots. I know, for a geekly mommy goddess who has only a hand full of shoes to her name it is a silly thing to like and not very fashionable. Look at these though and tell me you do not think they would look adorable on a little 4 year old daughter like my own?

Can you picture her singing and dancing in the ran?
I can!
She has done it often enough!
I think part of having a good rainy day is taking some time to play in it for a bit. That is what we do anyway. You should have seen us in Texas, every time it rained we would call friends to celebrate. They thought I was nuts of course the first few times. It just happened so rarely and I missed normal rain so much I just had to call them, even if I was waking them up! I called when it snowed too!
I too need some wellies! I want Lilac ones like this:

It’s raining, it’s pouring,
    The old man’s snoring.
He got into bed
    And bumped his head
And couldn’t get up in the morning.

Just what kind of thing is that for children to sing? And yet we do!

Some of us like rain more than others, clearly:

When that I was and a little tiny boy, With hey, ho, the wind and the rain, A foolish thing was but a toy, For the rain it raineth every day. But when I came to man’s estate With hey, ho, the wind and the rain, ‘Gainst knaves and thieves men shut their gate, For the rain it raineth every day. But when I came, alas! to wive, With hey, ho, the wind and the rain, By swaggering could I never thrive, For the rain it raineth every day.

[William Shakespeare (1564-1616)

A rainy day is a perfect day for songs, and poems, and dancing. Be one inside or out! Just be dressed for the weather ok!
