WSAV- TV in Savannah, reported on this story of a Pastor among other things comparing a breastfeeding mother to a stripper. Are you shocked yet? You should be. Unless of course your used to people being ignorant and in my opinion perverted. You know my opinion on this right?
Georgia mother Nirvana Jennette was ordered by the pastor to go feed her baby in the bathroom. While trying to explain why that is not a sanitary option he compared her to stripper and in short ordered out of the church telling her not to come back again.
Of course like many States, Nirvana had ever right to breastfeed her baby where ever she is legally allowed to be. I wonder if this Pastor would even care? It seems to me that he is the one that should be leaving, seeking help, because anyone who can see a nursing baby and think sexually clearly needs some help, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. At least if one is a pervert, own it and try for some self control and look away!
The San Francisco Chronicle reported that this issue has hit facebook and that at least 5 nurse-ins have been planned around the state as a sign of solidarity for the rights of nursing mothers and babies. Breastfeeding is normal, natural, healthy, and no more sexual than eating ice cream and it is about time our society comes out of the sexual illness fog it has been in to see it as such.
How disappointing, and amazing that in this day and age that kind of view still exists! I breastfeed whenever my babe wishes to, whether I am in a restaurant, library, meeting etc. There is nothing more natural and less ‘stripper’ like! I hope the protest goes well.
I nurse where ever, when ever. Always have. Always will…. What a jerk, and to think people follow him as a “man of god”…
Hopefully this pastors wife served him HIS dinner in the pisser that night (and every night there after….)
