NaNoWriMo – The final Hours!

   National Novel Writing Month

There are only about 12 hours left to the 2012 NaNoWriMo and if your like me, your looking at blank pages and running into walls in trying to meet that 50K goal. I think I can…. I think I can….  or so goes a famous little book I think most of us think about from time to time, specially times like this. NaNoWriMo is the insanity of passionate people who love the literary world and dream of being at least a small part of it. For some, it is simply about finally getting out a story that has lived in them for a long time, even if they never plan to publish it.

   I Stand Alone

This year, as far as I can tell, none of the people who started with me that I know well are finishing. One made it to 5k, another to 12k, and others not past 20k. My own dear thirteen year old daughter is finishing the month at near 13k words. She has plans though to keep writing into December as she thinks she is only 1/3rd the way through her novel. I think she will keep writing it too. She has never been a little book worm like Mommy or Daddy or even her younger siblings but she too has a story to write and I think she is blossoming in her love of writing and reading. I feel so lucky to know she is happy to let me help edit her work, though I told her Daddy is better at such things.

   It is worth trying

Year after year I do NaNoWriMo and year after year I am asked at the end of I thought it was worth it. Even in the years I do not finish I have to say yes. There is something so satisfying about taking time to write for oneself even if you never expect anyone to read it. It is a gift. A Gift my I give myself every year. A gift my family and friends give me, and now a gift my blogging community gives me. Thank you for understanding how hard this has been. Thank you for forgiving my lack of contact or getting behind on things. I am very lucky and feel very blessed to have room for NaNoWriMo in my life.

Now to some how pull 5k out of thin air and finish on time!
