The pure imaginary insanity is back this year with my 9th NaNoWriMo attempt. In years past I have failed as often as I had won, so this year is the tipping point! I could have one more loss than win, or one more win than losses. I am not confident this year at all. I didn’t have a plot going into day 1 and it has been a struggle every step of the way. Most of my characters still have not come alive and it is day 13. Not only that but I have yet to kill any of them off yet even. I need to get to heart of the story quick before all hope is lost! This is the plight of a NaNoWriMo novelist and there are almost 300,000 thousand of us this year.

So what is the point?

The point of writing 50,000 words in a month is to help get novels out of people who want to be writers. They are not going to be pretty novels mind you, they will be a hot mess. But a hot mess of a novel is better than the novel never written! At least said novel now stands a chance at seeing the light of day. Forget that none of my NaNoNovels have every been seen by anyone, yet. Someday I will get that far! For now, I just bask in the wonder that is the creative mess of NaNo.

So I finally hit 20,000k words today. I am still a full days writing behind but 20k seems like a huge accomplishment to me and I wanted to share it. I know I am not at all alone in my writing this month and many others in my writing circles are behind too. We can do this! We have to do this!
