NaBloPoMo Day 7

My topic tonight came from a post I made on my FB wall. Rather than explain it, I thought I would just share it here. In short though, opinions pushed as fact with nothing to back them up make me a bit nuts! Please oh please if your going to argue with me, share some facts and links, I promise I will love you for it!

A question for other military families here: How will an Obama presidency affect your military career and life differently than a Romney presidency?
  • Jennifer You have to be careful as a military member or dependent– you are not at liberty to discuss political viewpoints.
  • A Little Crunchy A dependent is not limited in any way and while a soldier must take care, they can still march and join in protest, just not in uniform. The question in no way asks anyone to violate AR, DOD Reg, or US Code. Just to be clear.
  • Jennifer  Oooooh! YES We are!!!!! You are mis-informed!– and opinions posted on FB or a dependent’s FB page that could show up on their page can have serious reprocussions. I was just at a meeting about this!
  • A Little Crunchy Please share the reg that your talking about because a spouces job in NO WAY takes away constitutional rights, including free speech and a soldier can post and talk about politics just not AS a soldier but as a person. Also, please before calling someone mis-informed, share facts, not hear-say.
  • A Little Crunchy Please check out this very simple article that shares how this question and any response is in no way an issue: http://asktop.net/articles/political-cans-and-cannots-for-soldiers-during-a-presidential-election-year/ It might clear some things up for you Jennifer

This article is a quick reference to help you navigate the various political restrictions that apply to you as a Service Member.
  • A Little Crunchy I have only been a military wife for 14 years, and new things come up every day, but this is an area I know well.
  • Jennifer – I was JUST at a meeting about this.
  • A Little Crunchy You have not made a point, or presented anything factual. I am sorry but I have been to meeting that Brass has had things wrong even. I am not saying that is the case but you have presenting nothing. Did you take a look at what I posted? Please reply with links if you find any supporting what your saying.
  • Jennifer  It isn’t something anyone would lie about– go look it up. I’m done. I was trying to help– you are insulting me and practically yelling at me. Done.
  • A Little Crunchy Also, if someone is trying to tell a spouse what they can and can’t say about politics, they need to go visit JAG before they get into some trouble, as they can not at all try to block the rights of a spouse to have what every political opinion they have and express it in what ever legal way they wish. Take it from a girl who had drive on post before, parked and gotten out with signs. Protesting is something I know well!
  • A Little Crunchy I did look it up, and I shared a link with facts and that shares the regulation. I am sorry if it sounds like I am yelling, I don’t like fear mongering and without any supporting evidence, that sounds like what your doing. I take our freedoms very seriously.

     I could be Wrong

I could always be wrong, but please if your going to say I am wrong about something so very important, prove it. I shared a link that really sums it up and provides the regulations. The least one could do would be to share a link back validating their argument. I am not asking too much!
