Here is our Duckling Update!

Our 4 little ducklings we had gotten from Tractor Supply a little over 3 weeks ago are far from little! Our teenage daughter jokes that we can about watch them grow! Like all ducks, we have been quickly reminded that these are messy little guys! While we have experience with ducklings and all is well at the moment, I am still concerned about the future and what kind of coop or duck house we will make them! We did not get them as Easter Pets, and the will not end up uncared for or dead like so many of those do! Still, ducks are different than chickens and with our yard I am not yet certain what will work best, we will though figure it out! We have options!

While our ducks are nice and safe in a large brooder in the garage they still need time outside to play and bond with their humans. While ducks are not born with the oils needed on their feather to swim and they get those from their Mothers, you can still let them swim a bit before all their feathers come in. Be sure to dry them well and get them under their heat lamp afterwards. We made them a bigger little water bin to play in, with lots of supervision!

All 4 children really love their ducks and help care for them and keep them safe, often from themselves! Mother ducks are not known to be the best of parents but that is ok, our family looks to be doing a great job with these ducklings!
