If you are sick please stay away from people with Cancer!

I would think this shouldn’t have to be said but alas, it does.

My Father was diagnosed a little while ago with Stage 4 pancreatic cancer out of the blue. It is said to be one of the most deadly aggressive cancers and one of the most painful. This has devastated our whole family. It has been hard on my heart in part because we live 1000 miles from home being that we are a military family. Moving closer isn’t something we can just up and do, or else I would. We had planned to go see him weeks back but a few of our children had a slight cold, we couldn’t risk my Dads health, specially with him on such heavy Chemo. So we put the trip off and went when we were all feeling right as rain.

While there someone in the family went and brought a very sick child, before I knew it we were all sick. My Dad caught it but not as bad thanks to a trigger shot that boosts his white cell count, that shot also happens to be for him worse in his opinion than the Chemo is. Thankfully Dad is ok, but his primary caregiver, my Mom is not ok. She is really sick and can’t just stay in bed to rest as she is looking out for my Dad.

If you are trying to figure out what to get a Cancer patient I suggest giving them your time, giving them a hand if they need to get things done, and give them hand sanitizing wipes too. For the love of all things please don’t give them a cold!

Cancer Sucks

My sister got Dad this bright pink shirt, it says Cancer Sucks. It really does!

We are home again now and all I want to be is back with my Dad. It will be a while before we can travel to see him again. We will not know if there is a military move in our future till next February. Moving closer would be wonderful even if it is only 400 miles closer, that is almost a days drive for us. We have to hope Dad fights, that his will power stays strong in this, and that he holds on to hope too. He is an amazing person who doesn’t deserve this at all. Sadly I have known a few amazing people who have gotten cancer, it always seems to be the best of us.
