We can finally get a breast pump free with Tricare military insurance!

As of July 1st 2015 Tricare covers breast pumps!

There are a few ways to get your breast pump and the way I am going to go over here is how I actually did it this past week. Remember you have options and this is just one of them!

Step #1 Obtain your written prescription from your doctor for your breast pump.

You are allowed to get a manual one (no idea why you would want to…) or an electric pump. You are just not allowed to get a hospital grade one unless you have a NICU baby that meets other qualifications. (Contact Tricare about that!)

Step 2: edgepark.com

This was very easy to do. A nurse at the hospital pointed me to the website and it was quick and easy to fill out. As I couldn’t get a hold of my OB/GYN my babies pediatrician at the hospital wrote the prescription. It still worked and was covered. All I had to do was answer the questions on the site, took less than 5 minutes, and fax the prescription over to the number given on the site. (You can e-mail it to them, just snap a photo of it with your cell phone!) The policy number is your husbands (or wifes!) social security number if you are the dependent.

The company then contacts Tricare to verify! I ordered mine on Monday and got it in the mail that Saturday. No place local had the pump I wanted so this was super easy.

Step 3: Sign Confirmation

The company sent me an e-mail to electronically sign as well to verify they could contact the insurance company about this. It took just a moment and no hassles.

I didn’t pay anything out of pocket at all.
