While we are a crunchy family and limit TV that does not mean that my husband and I do not have shoes we like to watch together. We love watching Fringe and have from the start. It can be so gut wrenching though and the twists can some times be hard to follow, the endings some times hard to see coming. I think we love it all more for it.
This last episode though caught us by surprise, Episode 4 of season 5. (How has it been 5 years already?) SPOILER ALERT! If you have not figured it out by now, Ella dies in this episode. I thought this could not be right. We just got to loving her, really seeing into her but it was not enough, not even close. Just a glimpse and then with no warning, she is dead, blown into nothing with an anti-mater bomb she set off herself to save the rest of her family.
Hollywood.com confirmed it, this was really it, death for Ella. Granted on this show people coming back from the dead is nothing too odd but it does not look like that will be happening. No one I have seen is betting on it anyway. So we fans are left wondering what the heck is going on? As if things are not bad enough for our favorite characters, now this.
Dear Fringe, taking Ella from us this soon is just wrong! We had a fresh new light on the show, hope for time they lost as a family and so much left for Ella to teach her parents like how to block the observers from reading their minds. It takes from what I gather from watching at least a year and I don’t think she ever even had a moment to explain it to them. This horrible new world being taken over by mass murderers poisoning the atmosphere just got so much worse for Peter and Olivia and Walter.
I have to say as a mother I loved that Peter and Olivia got to be parents and wondered how the dynamic would play out over time with Ella knowing her world and her parents trying to keep her safe and save the world. They didn’t get that chance. Maybe as a mother I loved seeing my favorite characters as parents too. I highly doubt they will have more children and something about that is just tragic to me. Alas, not everyone is parent, not everyone gets it.
