Back to Part 3 of National Zoo Field Trip
I am not sure if you can see him below, his natural camouflage is really good for the habitat he lives in. The Black-tailed prairie dogs were very entertaining and I swear they didn’t really try and hide. They are very social and we could watch a few of them running and playing and popping up their heads from their holes. Right next to them in a play area so children can try and see the perspective of a prairie dog!
From one of the smallest residents of the zoo to one of the largest. (Possibly largest?) The Elephant area was very busy and noisy today with a lot of construction going on. We spent a bit of time in this area in the shaded areas. The elephant seemed very interested in his visitors and seemed happy to have his picture taken.
The kids enjoyed the area along with a water spray fan we picked up early in our visit as another way to keep the kids cool. It was $10 and worth it. The kids all took turns with it while we expected it to be cheep it did at least last the trip.
I sort of love the prarie dogs, they are so playful sometimes and are just fun to watch.
