Fall Is Bringing

Fall is bringing some wonderful things here. Cool crisp clean air being one of my favorites. Warm sweet sweaters, trips to the orchards, fun fall crafts, all things apples and spice.

For my little family we are working on getting the summer laundry sorted and donated and put away and then dealing with what new things we need. My son clearly needs new sneakers, my oldest daughter needs new jeans, and the list goes on and on.

I am also thinking about extended family. My father reminded me it is hunting seasons, he needs new hunter boots and is always short on gloves. Fall is bringing him far into the woods and the cold and away from civilization. I think he likes it that way, being out of touch and living it rough. I think I would enjoy the nature for a while but would fast miss the comforts of the modern world and the internet.

My father is a hunter, and I had a hard time with it as a child. I came to terms with it as I got older seeing how he honors the animal he kills and eats and I can’t even look my burger in the face. His meal had a full life wild in the woods, a chance, my chicken nuggets had their beaks and feet cut off as chicks and lived in tiny boxes and never saw the light of day. He treats animals more humanly than most of us. Vegetarians and Vegans of course doing far better on that front of course. I know look forward to meals at his house!

Fall also brings some beautiful horse back riding for a few friends who love to show off the photo hunting they do. Amber has her own list, turnout blankets for her horses. I remember those from when I was growing up in 4-h. I miss being around horses. I really want to go on a fall trail ride now too.

So along with cool clean crisp air, fall is bringing lists of needs and wants to accommodate the changes in weather. I have not yet been bitten by the crafting bug and so my yarn and needles are still put away. It is only a matter of time though before my crafting list gets long too!

I hope fall is bringing you wonderful things and lists that are long with blessings and short on needs.

I also love the fall, but unfortunately because of the crazy weather we didn’t get to go apple picking this year which is my FAVORITE fall activity.
