Easy Healthy Snacks — Parenting Advice

Chances are if your reading this that your a busy parent who sometimes despite your parental super powers needs a quick snack to run out the door with for your children. By easy, I mean really easy! No cooking classes or scouring for online recipes needed! A friend asked me about healthy snacks admitting that too often without something easy to grab she ends up stopping for fast food or candy just so she and the little ones get through the afternoon. It does not have to be this way though keeping in mind healthy is rather relative when coming from an omnivore to a vegan or the other way around. Here is an easy list. I really mean easy. Pick some of these up next shopping trip and stash them away to grab quick when you need them!

1. Gold Fish Crackers. (Leave some in the car even!)
2. Granola bars of course!
3. Fruit by the front door, my children love apples. pears, bananas.
4. Bags of Nuts (If you and yours have no allergies that is.)
5. Real Fruit Leather (Look in health food stores)
6. Organic fruit snacks, they come in little packs too!
7. Organic lolly pops. Ok, so this is candy but organic counts for something right? Well maybe only with children you want to be content long enough to get home without an accident.
8. Bag of grapes or Raisins. You might think raisins are dull but once you eat one you eat the rest!
9. If you have to grab something salty pretzels, could be worse!
10. For little ones grab the organic goodness from Earths Best! hehehehe!

So you know by now that I am one of the lucky Earths Best Bloggers, blogging opinion about their products, the ones I already love and the ones I did not even know they had!

My almost 2 year old, 4 year old, and 6 year old all loved the Organic Fruit Yogurt Smoothie packs. They are shelf stable and not messy, no spoon needed. Open the top and suck it down. A whole serving of fruit is packed inside. My older children asked for more even. No added sugar, no GMOs ingredients, and it is an easy and quick snack. One might think these are just for babies, but they are not. Even my grown husband had one and enjoyed it! We have decided to stock up both for the cars emergency bag and for the house emergency stock and of course for the cupboard as they are just that easy and I have no guilt getting them for my children. (ok so fresh would have no packaging but still, organic!)

If you having something else that is very easy to add to the list, please comment!

There are recipes and even little goldfish cookie cutters going around Pinterest! I’ve been wanting to try them out, then it would be even healthier! 🙂 You could go cheese free if you need to avoid dairy, I think there is even a gluten free goldfish recipe. There is a place that sells the cookie cutters in several different sizes or you could make your own from an aluminum can (not sure how healthy that is, but I saw it on someone’s blog). We also do Back To Nature Honey Grahams, order them from Amazon and you can get them in little bags, we always keep these in the car as well as little to go tubs of peanut butter. 🙂 If we know we are going out and will need lunch, we pack stuff with us for the kids frequently. Cheese roll ups, sliced apples, boxed raisins, the pb cups and grahams.
