Not cool Halloween Tricks – proselytizing and racism

(Back to Part 1 The real Evil found on Halloween)

Halloween Tricks

While kids might find toothbrushes and floss and fruit to be tricks on Halloween certainly they are better and kinder than the above note. It gave me an idea tough, maybe next year I will hand out jump ropes and candy, because they are fun, help kids keep active and they shouldn’t make anyone feel badly about themselves.

That little evil note was not the only trick some kids got this year!

Halloween is NOT for proselytizing people!

I guess one can’t be smart if they don’t love a dead guy or are not Christian? Really? How about consideration of others as not everyone believes the same as you do? I would be so embarrassed if in my neighborhood these were given out as we have families of many faiths serving in our military and this just seems very rude. I guess one could drop by that house and talk to the children about witch craft and give them a Witches Bible (those suckers are costly I just looked them up!) And see how well that gift goes over?

DON’T TRY TO GET TO MY CHILDREN THROUGH CANDY!  — The comment from a friend. (Thanks Jen for your righteous anger!)

One far more sinister in my opinion came by me tonight:

A Texas mom shared this: This is the end of a cartoon book about a boy who is hit by a car and dies trick-or-treating and goes to hell because he had not repented for his sins and accepted Jesus Christ. It came in a treat bag full of candy.

The Mom says she loves Texas but not crap like that!

And of course my 5 year old needs to know your views on Abortion with her candy right?

Some people really have no sense of boundaries or respect for others! So much for the sanctity of childhood!

Some have taken trick or treating tricks beyond just rude and inconsiderate though. Have you seen this racist news?

A Craigslist post attributed to someone living in Norfolk neighborhood of Larchmont-Edgewater went viral as people outraged over the racism in it shared their upset and concern. While some want to hide their heads in the sand and pretend that racism is a thing of the past it is clear that it is alive, though hopefully not well. What could cause such an evil “trick” this Halloween one has to wonder. Can anything justify it? I dared not post it on my facebook wall as I just don’t have the heart to deal with anyone right now who might agree with it. Must get over the shock of this first

The cowardly nameless person didn’t jump right in with the racism he hit another hot topic for me: We hate seeing kids older than twelve going house to house for free candy. Doing so is illegal and this year we will be calling the police on you bastards. Overage trick or treating is a Class 4 misdemeanor and carries a $250 fine. This will also go on your criminal record if you don’t have one already.

TRICK OR TREATING HAS AN AGE LIMIT?

Ok, so not near as outrageous or evil as racism is but darn it this topic irks me. Why can a 12 year old go trick or treating but not a 13 year old? Why? What is the logic? I just don’t understand. It seems like more people trying to put a nail in the coffin of Halloween traditions or some blind attempt to keep teens off the streets at night. (Only now they have little constructive to be doing?) Did teens stop enjoying candy and dressing up? I think not. Even things like trick or treating are being taken away, so much for the land of the free? Where does it end?

Back to racism as clearly that hasn’t really gone anywhere. Baboons? Really…. so one will believe that evolution worked for some humans but some how not the light skinned two legged animal huh?

I can’t even guess as to what happened in that neighborhood last night as a result of that post. I can only hope that it included people of all skin colors watching out for all children and helping them have a great time.
