Suppose, just suppose, one hundred elephants come to tea and you discover you don’t have any tea bags.
Uh, oh. What will you do with a herd of thirsty elephants?
Now that’s a worry!
But you can get rid of that worry by offering the elephants lemonade instead.

My children gathered on the bed to read this story together. I knew it would be cute but I never expected the conversations that followed. This book is about worry, something some adults seem to forget that children have too. It is a funny story about how to help over come worry and it addresses the outrageous what if’s to issues children really deal with, like monsters under the bed. The book empowers us all to take more control over what we think and feel. All the children talked during this book at one point or another, the 12 year old voicing worry over growing up, the 6 year old worried about monsters, the 4 year old worried about not enough candy in the world, and the 2 year old even seemed worried we would not turn the pages.

It is nicely written, imaginative, and child like. It opens up doors for children to think and want to talk about their worry.

This is so important. Maybe even more important than I knew before. As a crunchy parenting I like to think of myself as attached to my children. I like to think because we do not use day care or schools that I know them best.
Goodness though did I learn a lot the night we read this book.

After the last page my 6 year old spilled out his heart about how much he worries about dreaming. Who would have thought one would worry about this at such a young age? It is a real worry and I held him close, listened well, asked thoughtful questions, and validated his feelings. I also used a bit of humor and imagination to help him come up with things he can do and use to help in the dreams he does not like. It was such a special evening of talking I am not sure we would have had if not for this book.

Before I knew it I had one 6 year old running off to bed, and a 4 year old in my lap telling me all about her dreams. Though these dreams where very happy and she just wanted to be heard and have that special time. It was lovely, though getting her to bed was very hard. I think she could have talked all night long she was so interested in the topic.

This is a good book. We recommend for ages 3-12.
4 out of 5 stars from Little Crunchy!

OMGosh this is a great book! My kids would love it! My daughter is a worrier but my son isn’t. I’m the biggest worrier of all so maybe I should be the one to read it…LOL

What a great reminder that kids have feelings, too. Sometimes I forget that they have worries in their lives, too.

I would actually really be interested in reading this with my son. At times he wakes up scared from a bad dream and I wonder if it’s because he’s worried about something…I love books because they open up the dialogue and allow for conversations that may not have happened. Thanks for the great review : )

A fun way to deal with a serious concern. Worries are real and need to be addressed. Also, this book would be a great way to lead up to spiritual solutions… turning to God, who can truly take our worries away.

I agree, this book could a nice way to lead up to other conversations. Our family beliefs are different I think than yours and so the conversation would be more on psychological methods of dealing with worry and not spiritual though as our children get older we do teach them about how religion does help some people deal with reality in different ways.
