BRAVE is Coming!

This fantastic movie is almost here! Lucky for me, very lucky, I get to go see a Premier of it Wednesday night. I am taking my 12 year old daughter and my 4 year old daughter and also my Husband. I wanted to take my older girls because I believe this might be a girl power movie that I believe is important in raising daughters. I was told growing up that I couldn’t do this or that because I was a girl, or that I had to do this or that because I was a girl. I really didn’t like it and I tended to do the very thing I was told I couldn’t do. You should have seen me in high school as a shop girl in electrical for a few years. I gave that up once I saw that in the real world it was not playing with wires and tools I loved but rather it was digging ditches and climbing in attics dealing with spiders. This is not to say those who told me I couldn’t do it where right, in fact I did wonderfully but I didn’t love it. I loved books and writing. As hard as I tried, I was a geek who just liked to read while sitting in trees. I wasn’t all girly but I also could not put away my love of books and other geekery. 

So for this reason and many more I find it important to raise my daughters telling them they can in fact do anything a boy can and not to listen to those who say otherwise but please oh please do what you love and not just spend your time proving others wrong! 

My dear husband is coming because I would like to get his opinion on the movie as well. I think it will be fantastic, I really do. I hope I do not have to eat my words. If I don’t like it though, I will be sure to tell you along with the opinions of my other loved ones that will be seeing it too. 

I do not think I have been this excited about a kids movie in a long time!
