A book review by this little crunchy family

My 4 children and I cuddled in together before bed to read this book we hoped would be special enough to send to a special girl after we read it. The cover is stunning and pulled us all in. The book is large enough for the book display we have. It is soft covered but the cover it thick and strong.

Every single picture is stunning and captures the imagination. The children fidgeted and wiggled to get a better view of each of them. I stopped on some paged to ask the children what they think would happen next, each had an idea and where fully enthralled with the story for the very start. They giggled at my sobbing sounds trying to read the pages to them about the crying.

This story is about The Tear Thief, an invisible spirit that can go any place and every place and quietly hunts tears in the night, listening for the sound of crying so she could find her prizes. For what purpose though? This I will not tell you, you have to read it for yourself!

I was not sure where the story was going, where the moral was. Most stories have something to teach. Maybe I am too old to see the moral? My children loved the tale without the lesson I wanted to see. Maybe lessons are not needed for a good story?

The book is magical and beautiful. Beautiful is maybe not even sufficient a word to describe this book. It is wonderful. It brought each of us 4 turning the pages to a place of wonder that we had never been.

The children wanted to read it again and again. I showed them the audio CD in the back of the book. Lucky for Mommy I honestly must say. They put the CD on and sat all 4 turning the pages. The CD opens with beautiful tinkling music and the voice of Juliet Stevenson with an accent perfect for the story. The rhythmic voice further pulling them in.

That late night all of us decided this book is in fact perfect for the special girl we want to give it to. We also decided we need to get another one just for us. Would this little crunchy family recommend this book? By all means yes! Happy Reading!

This review is a book we purchased and we have no connection to it beyond our love of it.

This sounds like a really great story. I might have to get it for my niece
