This is going down as reason #1467 to homeschool…. how it is in this day and age there are people educating children who think racism is some how still ok? I wouldn’t be able to send my child to such a school personally. I know many people do not think they have a choice about schools but the reality is that many do have choices but sadly are just not aware of them. This is not to say that homeschooling is for everything and certainly homeschooling would not help that situation because what needs to happen is parents and teachers along with students need to stand up and fight segregation and make this right. I hope they do, it just simply isn’t right.

I agree. This shock and saddens me.

As a Yankee who currently lives in Texas, the Civil War just isn’t over for some people. To them, the Civil Rights movement was a gross violation of state sovereignty by the federal government. Because of the curtailment of Reconstruction in 1870, the issues still unresolved in the South were allowed to fester into Jim Crow. Even though it’s been almost 50 years (!!) since the Civil Rights Acts of 64 and 65 and the Voting Rights Act still stir some visceral reactions, even among young people, sadly.

WOW…that is pretty crazy! it’s taken yrs for the apartheid to pass in south africa so I suspect this young generation will be the end of prejudice!
