3 Best Ways to Improve Homeschooling Writing Skills

Guest Post

Homeschooling has its advantages and disadvantages, but it is definitely not the simplest thing on Earth. Many mothers are concerned about improving the writing skills of their children and students themselves often are interested in boosting their essay writing abilities. Is it harder or easier to do than doing it in the regular classes? Hard to say, but we know for sure that with these tips you can make serious steps forward your essay writing goal.

Parallel Studying

This option requires another person to participate in the process. It can be one of the parents, an older brother or sister or a tutor. Establish a time frame? For example, one hour and get to screens — PC and tablet for example. You should sit close and do the same assignment. Basically, a child should see how another person approaches dealing with the same assignment. You won’t believe it, but kids have the same “fair of the blank sheet” all the writers have. Often pupils procrastinate because they are afraid to start dealing with the assignment. In class, they have a lot of examples of other people doing the same thing, but at home, the pressure grows significantly. Start writing, delete the whole thing, start again. Make some notes, get lost in your thoughts, don’t try to pretend that everything is easy and comes naturally. In no time your homeschooler will get engaged and will start repeating after you.

Writing a Blog

To get better in writing one should write more. If you read writing manuals left by Stephen King and other famous writers, you will find out, that their major idea is simple as that — the more you write, the better you do it. Start with the lousy draft but keep writing. Stop even judging your first attempts, don’t become your own editor just yet.  A good place to start is to open your own blog, even if it is a blog about your homeschooling experience. Especially if it is! You are not supposed to be 100% grammatically correct, so you can just focus on the regularity. It will be great if you have a plan. For example, writing at least 3 posts per week. Let them be not perfect, but make sure to follow the plan. Of course, it is better if you spend some time proofreading what you’ve written just out of respect to your potential readers. You can choose any topic, and it is better to choose the one that really bothers you. It can be your hobby, your problems with some academic disciplines, your hatred to some movies or your obsession with dogs.

Using Powerful Writing Apps and Software

Do research and choose the websites and programs the most useful in your situation. The basic set consists of a premium account of some professional proofreading website (Ginger, Grammarly, Hemingway), anti-plagiarism checker and citation generator. You can also add to bookmarks websites helping to find synonyms,  Google Scholar, Urban dictionary, etc. Use those programs and sites at least for several months and your writing skills will improve significantly. Practice is essential as well as attention. For example, checking papers with a proofreading software of your choice, note down the most common mistakes you make.

Contacting Professional Academic Writing Companies

One of the ways that should also be mentioned is to order some of the essays and research papers from a high-quality academic writing service online which works with the best writers on a freelance basis. This way you can decrease the academic writing load and get focused on truly engaging and worthy, developing assignments. More of it, such essays can be used as models for further assignment. You can analyze every aspect of them and use them to your benefit later.
